The Soft Coated Wheaton Terrier is a terrier type that originates from Ireland. They were initially bred as a farm dog to herd, watch, and guard livestock, and to hunt and kill vermin. Today they compete in obedience, agility, and tracking, and they can sometimes be utilized in animal-assisted therapy. The breed is known for its soft, silky hair that does not shed, and the coat is a wheaten or ginger color. They have a square, well-built structure, and the breed is known to be energetic and playful.
