Animal Families and Genera is a subcategory which illustrates a sub-grouping of animals based on their taxonomic families and genera. Animal Families is the sixth of eight biological taxonomic ranks, and specifically refers to a grouping or sub grouping of animals. On the order of biological ranks, Families are between Order and Genus. Animal families are more specific than an animal order or class, yet not as specific as animal genus.
