Franz Klammer is an Austrian former Alpine ski racer known for dominating the Downhill skiing discipline. Franz Klammer won the Downhill skiing event in 4 consecutive World Cup seasons from 1975 to 1978. He also earned the Olympic gold medal at the 1976 Winter Olympics wining the Downhill event. Throughout his career Franz Klammer won 25 World Cup Downhill races and currently holds the most victories on the full course at Kitzbuhel. Franz Klammer retired in March of 1985 at the of 31. After his retirement he became involved in car racing and competed 4 seasons in the German Touring Car Championship.
