Description
Description

The Mule (Equus asinus x Equus caballus) is the offspring of a male donkey and a female horse. They are one of the most common working animals in the world and are the oldest known hybrid. They were likely first bred in what is now Turkey. Mules share a resemblance horses except for their long ears. Their skin is more resistant to the sun and rain than that of a horse. Mules typically eat grains, hay, and pasture. They have a lifespan of between 35 to 40 years. Mules are sterile due to the odd number of their chromosomes.

Equines, belonging to the family Equidae, comprise horses, donkeys, and zebras. These hoofed mammals are known for their long legs, muscular build, and a single, sturdy toe capped by a hoof on each limb—a trait that evolved over millions of years from earlier multi-toed ancestors.
