You may also need great timing, memorization skills, improvisation in case of emergencies, and charm. You may need more specialized skills depending on what kind of entertainer you’d like to become.

An artist typically follows the simple criteria that defines their job and use their work to evoke human emotion. They are able to tap into the emotions of their viewers and listeners. In contrast entertainers tend to create a fantasy. In music entertainers follow trends and create catchy songs. Entertainers are able to capture the attention of audiences by making themselves seem more interesting.

The different types of comedy are slapstick which is physical comedy, parody which mimics or ridicules others, spoof which is a light parody, and satire which mocks society or politics. Other forms of comedy are irony which is when the opposite of what’s expected happens, sarcasm which is a scornful response, and farce which features exaggeration of characters. Dark comedy discusses serious subjects and surrealism explores abstract situations are more forms of comedy.

TV first became popular during the late 1940 and early 1950s. The number of television sets went from 6,000 in 1946 and reached 12 million in 1951. Television sets became the first invention to reach such a large number so quickly. By 1955 half of all US homes had one.

The term television is used because it stems from the Greek prefix tele as well as the Latin word vision which means seeing from a distance. Thus, the word television combines both worlds into one. The television converts electric impulses and transforms them into images for viewers to see.
