Born in Mississippi, Tig Notaro moved to Denver, Colorado where she began a career being a band manager in the 1990s which led her to Los Angeles where she tried stand-up comedy for the first time. Notaro has a dark sense of humor and her comedy has been described as “deadpan”. She has appeared on shows such as The Sarah Silverman Program and Comedy Central Presents. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012, Notaro addressed her illness in a legendary performance of which many comedians praised her. Shortly after, Louis C.K. reached out to her and they decided to make an audio of the performance, which ended up selling more copies than the release of the band Kiss’ album that same day!
