They are similar in appearance to Middle Eastern and South Indian sight hounds. In appearance the Azawakh has a wide color variation. The have a short, flat back, long legs, and almond eyes; they are thin and move with a feline gait. With a range of temperaments, the Azawakh can be gentle and affectionate lap dogs or fierce and high energy with a high hunting instinct.
