The Lambeosaurus is a bipedal/quadrupedal, herbivorous dinosaur; it is a genus of hadrosaurid dinosaur that lived in the Late Cretaceous period of North America. It is known for its hollow cranial crest which resembles a hatchet. The hatchet-like shape was shorter and more rounded in female species. Like other hadrosaurids, it has a long tail stiffened by ossified tendons, and it had hands with four fingers. It has a complicated taxonomic history, as small-bodied crested hadrosaurids, now seen as juveniles, were once thought to belong to their own genera and species.
The Lambeosaurus had an overall length between 29.5’-39.4’ (9-12 m), standing height of 14.4’-19.4’ (4.4-5.9 m), body width of 4.6’-6.6’ (1.4-2 m), and weight from 8,000-11,200 lb (3,629-5,080 kg). The typical lifespan of the Lambeosaurus was between 25-30 years.
