Known for being the first person to ever walk on the Moon, Neil Armstrong was an American astronaut and aeronautical engineer. He graduated from Purdue University where he studied Aeronautical Engineering, joining the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics after serving in the Navy. After his time at NACA, Armstrong joined NASA Astronaut Corps, becoming the first of NASA’s team to fly in space. He is famously known for stating, “That’s one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind,” while taking his first steps on the Moon in 1969. He was a recipient of many honors and accolades and went on to be a university professor after resigning from NASA in 1971. Armstrong passed away in August of 2012.
