Bridge Pose - Elbows (Dvapada Dhanurasana)
Bridge Pose - Elbows (Dvapada Dhanurasana)
Bridge Pose is an intermediate backbend that opens the chest and shoulders, stretches the spine, neck, and thighs while strengthening the back. Bridge pose can give some energy to tired legs and relieve overall fatigue, anxiety, and even headaches. Some preparatory postures to bridge pose include Updog and Hero’s pose.
To do bridge pose, lay on the ground with the knees bent and the heels close to the butt. Next, lift the hips and work the arms and shoulders under the torso, grasping the hands together while pushing the hips to the air creating a backbend. Keep the back of the head on the ground and be mindful not to tuck the chin and protect the neck.
