Reclined Hero Pose is an intermediate hip-opener done from a seated position. Reclined Hero Pose gives the quadriceps, knees, ankles, and abdomen a deep stretch as well as opens the chest. Yogi’s be careful not to overdo this one, take it slow, it is a very deep stretch for the knees. Be mindful to stop if feeling any pain. Props can be used to help until the full expression can be reached.
To do Reclined Hero Pose move into the regular Hero Pose, with the knees bend sitting back on the ankles. Next, slowly begin to lean back and lower the elbows to the mat. If available, continue to move until the entire back is laid on the mat.
