Thom Mayne is an American architect. He began his architectural career by founding the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) in 1972. SCI-Arc was initially conceived as an experimental school which focuses on addressing the social and political issues of architectural design and urban space. Mayne is also the principal architect of Morphosis, based in Culver City, which he co-founded in 1972. Recent commissions include graduate housing at the University of Toronto, the San Francisco Federal Building and the University of Cincinnati Student Recreation Center. Thom Mayne was the 2005 recipient of the Pritzker Architecture Prize.
