Mark Twain, also known as Samuel Langhorne Clemen, was an American writer, humorist, entrepreneur, and publisher considered to be the greatest humorist of the United States as well as the father of American literature. His most famous works include The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and The Great American Novel. Mark Twain received an honorary doctorate from Yale University in 1901 and an honorary doctorate from Oxford University in 1907. Throughout his lifetime, Mark Twain worked numerous jobs which helped him refine his writing skills and share his experiences of the world. Mark Twain died on April 21, 1910 at the age of 74.
