Lion Pose is a beginner pose that is used in conjunction with Lions Breath, a breathing exercise in the Pranayama or “breathing” category of Yoga. Lion Pose helps to awaken the body and breath while releasing tension in the face and overall stress in the body. In other words, it just feels good! In Yoga, just as in life, the breath is a vital part of the practice and has many health benefits when focused on. Lions Pose strengthens the lungs, throat and voice. Yogi’s with tongue, knee of face injuries use caution.
To do Lion Pose, begin on the knee sitting back on the heels with the palms on the knees. On and bring the palms to the floor while arching the back and look up towards the third eye. Now, stick the tongue out and ROAR like a lion! Inhale back to the starting position, repeat and enjoy!
