The European Burmese cat, identified by its rounded head and large, communicative eyes, is a playful breed known to love causing antics for his owner’s attention and amusement. Devoted, loyal, and loving, the European Burmese provides his owner with unconditional love and years of company.
All European Burmese cats can be traced back to Wong Mau, a half Burmese, half Siamese cat brought from Burma, now Myanmar, to San Francisco in 1930. Her owner, Dr. Joseph Thompson, was so taken with her resemblance to cats from Tibet that he sought to isolate and replicate her identifiable physical traits, thus leading to the popularization and breeding of European Burmese cats.
European Burmese Cats have an overall height of 10”-12” (25-30 cm), body length of 15”-18” (38-46 cm), and weight between 6-10 lb (2.7-4.5 kg). European Burmese Cats have a typical lifespan between 15-18 years.
