The Tonkinese cat is a cross between the Siamese and Burmese, but classified as a natural breed. The purpose of this crossbreed was to create a moderately sized cat with less of a voice. Maintaining attributes of both the Siamese and Burmese, this medium-sized cat is distinguished by its slender, built body and short, silky hair. The Tonkinese cat comes in twelve color varieties or more specifically, four base colors (brown, beige, blue, and platinum) divided into three types of pattern. Resembling its parent breeds not only in appearance, temperament of the Tonkinese cat can be described as active and full of curiosity.
The typical Tonkinese cat has an overall height of 8”-10" (20-25 cm) and body length of 12”-15” (30-38 cm). An average Tonkinese weighs between 6-12 lb (2.7-5.4 kg) and has a typical lifespan of 12-16 years.
