Description
Description

The American Bobtail, a cat known for his dotted and striped coat and bobbed tail, is a medium to large cat with a piercing, intense hunting gaze. The first American Bobtail, Yodie, was found at a motel in Arizona in the 1960s. Yodie’s owners believed him to be a cross between a bobcat and a domestic cat, but he was fertile and if he was a true hybrid he would have been sterile. Therefore, the trait for the bobbed tail is simply a dominant genetic mutation which has been passed on to other tabbies throughout the years. American Bobtails are friendly, loyal, and intelligent cats making them great family cats.
