The Ocicat, named for its resemblance to the wild Ocelot, is a spotted cat with a lithe, muscular body. An extremely devote and loyal cate, the Ocicat tends to bond with one human in its household. Talkative, but not in an overbearing way, the Ocicat enjoys to communicate with his person and is very sensitive to verbal reprimands.
The Ocicat is the result of a mix of cat breeds; the first Ocicat was Dalai Dotson, an Abyssinian-Siamese mix. However, when Dalai Dotson was recognized as a Ocicat the CFA incorrectly noted her as an Abyssinian-American Shorthair mix. Once the mistake was discovered, Siamese was added, but American Shorthair was not removed, so the breed is now known as a mix of three different cat breeds, Siamese-Abyssinian-American Shorthair.
Ocicat Cats have an overall height of 9”-11” (23-28 cm), body length of 13”-16” (33-41 cm), and weight between 6-14 lb (2.7-6.4 kg). Ocicat Cats have a typical lifespan between 15-18 years.
